Not only that, working for a company like Apple, you aren't allowed to write any code unless its been approved by the appropriate people...that just wouldn't work.

Have you talked with others about this, or asked for help? Moments like this is when we as people need the most help, as they are extremely challenging situations. Please talk with friends and professionals about this.

I actually just went through a thorough interview search over the past month, where I have interviewed with Google, Facebook, Apple, Stripe, Lyft, and much more. I failed on several of the more earlier interviews due to lack of knowledge&#x

This is sad to hear, and while I don't use Uber anymore, I did have one great experience - my phone slipped out of my pocket into the car as I was getting out, and the car drove off as I got out and did not carry anything there. I was

I wouldn't say that about all companies - I had some pretty hard whiteboarding questions when interviewing recently from companies of all sorts of sizes, but aside from Google and one other company, all of them have made it quite obvio

Not sure where the heck you're living in the Bay Area, but I haven't had a 3 hour commute here...ever. I've lived in areas with true traffic nightmares (NY & DC), Bay Area doesn't compare at all in my experience here

This is a supremely accurate quote - mathematicians often encounter this when teaching undergrads in lower level courses. I remember encountering some very smart people while teaching in grad school, but the people themselves did not recogn

I don't think I have ever seen a startup offer a competitive salary/equity package here in the Bay Area for a software engineer. I have found that the best I could do is trade compensation for a good work-life balance since salary

Can't say I agree with the big bang rewrite part necessarily - at my last job, I found myself having to do significant refactors. The reason was that each view had its own concept of a model for interacting with various objects, which

What you see with statistics/calculus is extremely superficial compared to the realm of higher mathematics. Exceling in that is a poor indicator of ability to succeed in any proof-based mathematics coursework. As someone who had signif
