I agree with you. I think I wasn't clear in my comment. If you like computers, the skill floor for comp sci is lower for you. And if you like talking and cracking jokes, the skill floor for stand-up comedy is lower for you. These are

Your first example is precisely what I mean. Making the FPS higher, might require some creative hacks. Making a 3D model look exactly like your vision might require highly technical knowledge about your tools. Going beyond acceptable standa

I agree with most of the article. There's a part of the world that makes a distinction between "technical" and "creative" which bothers me even more. Putting yourself or someone else in a bucket of "technical&q

I would argue that skill floors are subjective, and so maybe there isn't as much difference as we think between the two skills?

Just curious, are these issues not enough to make you look elsewhere? Especially since these kind of issues have been common with MacBooks over the past few years. Maybe you require MacOS for something specific? Or is there just nothing els

I want to be able to have an affordable repair option if I spill coffee on my laptop 6 months in. This sentiment is pretty universal, you don't hear about it much because consumers don't think they have a choice. If you go into an

I'm happy for those who find it easier to read with this font, but just to note there was a study that showed no indication of this font helping reading speed. The study also notes that most participants preferred the alternate fonts (

I installed Pop!_OS 20.10 (non LTS) on my Ryzen 2600 + RTX 3060 Ti PC. No issues whatsoever. Even this random cheap bluetooth dongle I use works without a hassle.

I hope you've moved away from LastPass (like many of us) following their recent changes to their pricing and free tier. Would recommend BitWarden as an alternative.

This is dumb. I never said "any" money, you're just trying to justify your own opinion. Yes people spend more on the App Store and if the dev wants to use it to market their app they should go ahead and pay that 30%. However

That is also a bad monopolistic practice we should be against. Apple isn't the only culprit.

Um, the harm is 30% more expensive apps. If devs can't avoid the cut, its only going to get passed down to the user.
