The embrace of UBI seems entirely too eager for many. It's as if the huge, unpredictable and ambitious nature of it isn't fully felt. Attempts to refactor giant economies according to high modern ideals has been tried to disastrou

..and after a shaky start to an essay gets worse and worse we get to the bottom line: "And so the result of this line of thinking is to justify the status quo. A status quo which, right now, is riven with oppression."

The article is peppered with condescension and dismissal like 'I shouldn’t have had to write this: I’m busy and a little effort on your part would have made it unnecessary.' Maybe the author is more comfortable role-playing Larry

Pretty sure in a critically charged environment this article would fare far worse than the one it is criticizing. And the tone is so snotty and condescending.

I believe biological explanations might account partially for the openAI bot outperforming human players.

Contrast this to HBO's budget which is ~2B$ I believe and they generally cost 15$+\month. Netflix is just getting started in ripping up the old order.

If forced to supply the XX one-word answer for which one Netflix is than it is entertainment. Doubt it's very useful to reduce things to one word in general though. Both entertainment and technology would delineate it from a car compan

So simple it might just work. I keep expecting something more dramatic, but they seem to be the opposing dipole of Amazon.

Netflix at 10$ is severely underpriced relative to any competition. I've been curious just what their next move is.

As information, I had given up on your comment persuading me of anything before the first comma. It's really that easy.

The tension is building! They've got all this money, they've shown a few of the cars, they've got half a million deposits, but the cars are just dribbling out of the factory right now like pre-ejaculate.

I think people can be vaguely expecting something to happen yet still be entirely surprised when they see what it actually is in practice.

I think the transition to self-driving electric cars as a service will be in full force by then, and it will only be slowed down by the sheer number of interlocked changes and requirements to finish that process. The sheer scale of the numb

The testable prediction I am making here is that people will exert social force quite similar to the mini-shamings applied to smokers. Your point is that smokers and ICE drivers have different reasons to be those things, and they may color

I don't think it'll be that simple. There will be plenty of people who hold on to ICEs for no good reason but habit. When prompted they will say head-scratching things like 'I like the way it sounds' or 'it's s

Sure, but most people will assume the person made the choice to pick an ICE and treat it like a disgusting habit\decision that's ruining their environment, even if many hold off judgement.

I have a theory that people will treat gas cars like they treated smokers. There was a stretch of time where smoking was popular in restaurants but the common shtick was the table next to you would go 'ewww!' and wave their hands

I wasn't aware of how hard Reed Hastings had come down on Peter Thiel about his Trump support. I've been a fan of Hastings for 15+ years but am marginally less supportive after hearing that. Not because of Trump per se, but that h

Netflix's catalog shrunk when they stopped buying fewer large bundles of dross and focused more on exclusivity, both of those efforts cost more per title and thus fewer titles for the same budget.
