Programming Language. It's a bit odd, because they mostly implement runtimes, but PL stuck :).

PL implementors tend to not agree: (RubyMotion creator, follow the thread:) https://twitter.com/lrz/status/377486518719623168 Pointers nowadays are not just used for addressing things.

I don't use MySQL anymore and I use command line clients everywhere. But that wasn't the point. Also, sequel (rubygem) comes with an awesome console to write SQL queries in.

This is actually a good example why you should have a code of conduct as a conference. Bad things on stage happen. As an organizer, you can now write an apology that sounds like the one techcrunch wrote: http://techcrunch.com

Edited to "someone else". In any case, "walking on eggshells" is what you do on stage anyways.

It is a very manly gesture that implies a mental image of the someone else being the subject of the gesture. But first of all, it is very immature and tasteless and shouldn't be done on stage.

If there is any project I'd be tempted to be snarky about, it's PhpMyAdmin (although last time I used it, it was 2006). From an administration perspective, it was often a hassle, especially in its beginnings. It is a very successf

Thats quite interesting. A somewhat potent piece of hardware with basic administration and on-call-service can cost you ~200$ a month (Thats an EC2 large instance with one hour of an reasonably competent sysadmin). Thats ~2400$ a year. In t

Here the same[1]. This library squats vocabulary in a bad way. e.g.: #word is (\w+). This works in english, but breaks very early. Still, it might be correct in some time. "word" is extremely context-sensitive. [1] https:/&#

For git repositories that are not touched very often, you can move the .git directory to something that isn't picket up automatically. Use it like this: mv .git dot_git git --git-dir="dot_git" add ... Thats also

Nice idea, simple and helpful, especially as there are quite a number of interesting offers with different skill groups like "need help with coding, can offer help in writing" already.

All these libraries suffer from the problem of decribing regexes in a non-formal language (english!). An example: What are .Letters()? [a-zA-Z]? Are diacritics included? The whole UTF-8 letter range? And suddenly, you have to specify that c

For lack of a translation: "Rampensau" is the german word for that behaviour and does neither imply nor deny charisma. He is just energetic on stage.

I have neither of those and this doesn't even include popular providers like gmx oder web.de. This a very bad move. In that case, you should check against a blacklist instead: http://torvpn.com/temporaryemail.html

The "write tests" part could be rewritten as: don't let the freelancer dictate the rough technical direction. If you want a proper state-of-the-art software project, tests should be included.
