Note that the graph states the trend for the last 5 years was "doesn't go up or down", so the level is interesting. It's just no hype any more, but at least for half a decade. So it's also no decline.

I started learning Ruby for fun roughly 6 months before the first release of Rails. Although I rarely use Rails today (more because I rarely work on full-stack projects), it paved the way for a lot of the Ruby community today. That was a lu

Defaulting to "paste and match style" (which could be plain text) would be quite sufficient, IMHO.

I know some recruiters and what you say is true: it's not necessarily the recruiter but the client that is clueless. I did some hiring for some companies and saw some of this at work (e.g. the CFO writing the job offer, never passing i

Given how generic they are, thats probably true. I recently had someone asking for three years of experience in AESON (for the uninitiated: thats a JSON parser...).

Publishing it as MIT is, on the other hand, a different cup of tea. I am not disagreeing that this is possible, but the parent wasn't sure of the correct position, either.

You think or you are sure? The creator of the collection is using the logo by putting it on the web page. Also, the logo is licensed under MIT, which he probably cannot do, if he doesn't hold the rights.

The difference here is control. When I push a patch to github or post a picture on flickr , I decide what happens. If someone updates an issue and github tracks that I read the email without giving me the ability to opt out, I don't.

This is a bit tricky, though! The Origin EULA is not necessarily post-purchase. It is, if you buy the disk, install the game and then click through. It ain't if you download Origin, install, accept the EULA and then buy a game. Still,

Which decision in which legislation? This is highly contextual. In Europe, for example, contractual freedom with a consumer (not in between companies) is often highly regulated. And even then, it differs from country to country.

This was an example question. The problem is wide, that's why I was asking about _forward compatibility_. Even if I have long term support, what happens if that runs out? How does that work in the presence of scripting and extensions?
