Among others, these two points scream of grasping at anything to throw at the argument: > wearing a helmet may create a false sense of security and induce risk-taking that cyclists without head protection might not make. > Bike hel

It's hard to tell from the abstract alone... 9.2 (95% CI = 7.5–11.3) for pedestrians, 6.4 (95% CI = 4.7–8.8) for un-helmeted cyclists but to me, it looks like the number is chance of traumatic brain injury as a pedestrian in an

If by such games you mean very specifically MMO's, then sure, I'll concede that time sync may be more valuable, but even then event serialization is normally done via an authority hand-off model that does not actually require ti

Gaming is actually a really bad example since as you say, you can't really on the clients telling you a time as it may be spoofed. Thus the clients times are always ignored, and thus time sync is irrelevant. I'll say that in about

There is indeed a lot more to do. While there is clearly diminishing returns, secondary rays for instance are computationally very difficult, and contribute significantly to the final perception of the scene. While we're able to take a

To add to that, Sweeney hasn't really been a graphics programmer since the late 90's. He's always been much more focused on engine infrastructure, leaving graphics to other very competent programmers at Epic.

The same principals apply, it just becomes more difficult to understand what your language may be doing for you in this regard. Compound types in most languages will store their members contiguously, at least in cases where easy to do so. A

I think the big difference is that they come with the OSes that those types of people are likely to use. And being stores, they provide software that package managers are unlikely to provide. I think package managers becomes less useful to

Actually, linkage is the same, it's name mangling that's the problem. Regardless, libs using extern "C" are still build using MSVC++, and that is the question I was asking about.

I disagree, I find surprisingly often, the top one or two voted answers have low quality in many of the types of searches I end up doing on StackOverflow. Ultimately, it ends up being a resonable ranking when you have a smaller set of answe

In theory, given the attribute, and macro system, it should be possible to implement this as a library in the language, correct? I think that is vastly preferred over a constant runtime always hanging around.

Does Rust's patches affect codegen? Hypothetically, if not, you should be able to just feed the IL files into the PS4 toolchain.

That's great, but honestly, can it link against MSVC++ generated libs? I've meant to try it out, but kept trying to build rust from scratch, which may be a mistake.
