I figure you're talking about DX11's multithreaded submission? While it's true that GL doesn't have support for this yet. AFAIK, DX's implementation is very slow, and all the major engine developers end up implement

This is simply false the PS4 is at 6 million consoles sold in under 4 months[1]. While the PS3 had sold less than that in 7 months[2]. While I'm not going to double check all the numbers, the PS4 is supposed to be the fastest selling c

So, Voxel Cone Tracing doesn't actually treat static and dynamic geometry as the same. It makes two hierarchical voxel trees, one static, and pre-built. and the other dynamic, and generated per frame. This is really the only way it can

I mean, you can just use shadow buffers on everything. And something like a screen-space AO to get a little bit of GI effect. It'll look good enough.

No one is suggesting that it should be the exclusive supported toolchain. It may strictly be a larger download than MinGW, but it's certainly less painful and confusing. Sure, Rust may just need a linker, but MinGW is anything but ligh

But having to install the entire mingw toolchain is also clearly not the best for Rust to depend on and use.

I'm not however sure that applies to Rust. And frankly I care a lot less about the pointer operators for smart pointers. Any old accessor is decent, and I find the overloaded pointer operators sometimes confusing. At the very least it&

I assumed that in most cases when you deal with a hash table you want some data returned. That's perhaps not true in the case of adding to the hash table, but if you don't need the result you can just add it to a queue, and do it

About as different as the standard CPU/GPU combo is from Cell. This is literally a CPU, with a GPU, with a cache coherent memory bus. The Cell on the other hand is a PowerPC unit, mated with a few Vector FPU units, with no direct memor

I'd be surprised if Mantle did not have a way to issue compute shaders.

In particular, Mantle on an APU will give you much better control of memory allocation, usage, transfer, and caching. Which is something that having the GPU on die will excel at. Mantle is also good at decreasing the overhead of issuing n

That's great. Really, the only case in C++ I want operator overloading, is to implement standard math operators on custom types, like Vector3s, Matrices, and Bignums.

Please don't depend on MinGW. MSVC is the best supported compiler toolchain on Windows. Use it.

Darwin itself uses very little BSD code. It's built on Mach. OS X does however import much of the BSD userland, but I don't even know if much of that makes it into iOS. I think it'd be a fair guess to say that iOS likely cont
