Afaik Element Web (and the legacy Element mobile apps) are the only ones which have done threads so far, perhaps because the notif problems you mentioned put off the others. These have been fixed now, but others (even Element X) have yet to

Something isn’t right here; thread notif problems should have been solved a year or so ago. And most apps are not element forks - eg FluffyChat, Nheko, Cinny are all great fully featured apps and separate codebases. The only Element fork i

I guess the question is whether it’s better to spread objectively and demonstrably false info today (as you are with the completely bogus Matrix 2.0 critique), versus me putting subjective info into a FAQ 10 years ago ;) It might be worth

fwiw Matrix does do this, although making the OIDC IdP track the right target homeserver might need a bit of config.

I’ll take the superlative marketing :D If folks are interested seeing the companies currently sinking $ into Matrix by routing $ to the Matrix Foundation, you can see them at https://matrix.org/support . Thankfully it’s not

Yes. The regulation is set up to destroy smaller startups & organisations; the only folks who have a hope of complying with it are Big Tech.

The matrix.org team has checked directly with Europol, and there is absolutely no link between the Matrix protocol and the MATRIX/MACTRIX/Totalsex/X-quantum/Q-Safe/Mchat app involved in this takedown. https:/&

Totally unrelated. I guess there's a chance that the service might have been built using the Matrix protocol, but we're unaware of it if so - and the app in question doesn't look like any Matrix client I recognise. Unfortuna

On the Matrix side, we’d definitely like to help make this happen. Decentralised e2ee is Hard, and after a lot of iteration we’ve got Matrix into a good place these days (plus there’s a new wave of React Native Matrix dev happening atm). Pl

On the Matrix side: to be clear, Element Web/Desktop isn't a nice new webapp (yet) - it's an 8 year old codebase which is improving slowly but surely (unless we get lucky and can focus on a step change). Element X however is

I'd argue that SimpleX has probably learned from the path Matrix has been on... and so has Matrix. So you end up with multiple viable options to pick from, and to drive each other forwards; sounds like a good outcome to me.

What are you thinking of in particular? Fwiw, as project lead, i would be first to admit that there were slow bits - eg sync v2, which is why we built sliding sync… and crypto was easy to get wrong, hence shipping a highly polished implemen
