I guess they're not at risk if they close up shop instead? This is actually becoming a big problem in Australia at the moment: A large number of GPs are at or near retirement age, and if it all gets "too hard" they'll j

I don't own a Tesla but I'm a fan of them for one huge reason: they're shipping a product, and they've been shipping for years already. Nothing can replace that real-world experience and these upstarts will have a lot t

32 bit PCI was only capable of 133 MB/s, but at the time, high speed SCSI peripherals were popular, and 64 bit SCSI cards were capable of 160 MB/s. If I recall correctly, the PCI bus was shared and not point to point like PCIe, so

I got an Nvidia MSI GTX 1650 Super with 4GB - it is not the most powerful, but was much easier to come by. A nice upgrade from my older card, and the fans stop spinning when its idling in 2D desktop in Linux.

I was so excited by the M1 despite being a linux user. I couldn't wait any longer to upgrade my old workstation, so I went for an AMD 5950X instead and couldn't he happier. (Its extremely fast and powerful compared to an M1, at c

What is implicit & unsaid here is that this meaningful non-ego-driven work is necessarily for-profit. Because, for instance, Pfizer is not going to spend money doing this science without an innovation that pays off by being licensable o

I wouldn't say cautious. The current situation is like a runaway car down a slight slope, with a person trying to stop it with their bare hands.

Isnt that only true if your goal just to make the numbers look good? How does changing the average effectiveness on paper actually change how much it's helping an individual in one of the given groups?
