We get about 15% of users with no JS (~250k visits a month, state Gov't site).

GA "can" track non-JS users, but it requires a server-side implementation: http://code.google.com/intl/en/apis/analytics/docs/mobile/mo...

As a web developer who has to implement stupid stuff like the OP's link every single day, for a large corporation that refuses to listen to anything the IT team says... I tend to agree with you.

Sounds exactly like just about every IM app. It's pretty much how me and my friends use Google Talk. We all actively update our statuses on it quite regularly... "At work" or "Playing Forza, join if bored" etc. Combined with the presence ic

This is the clincher for me. Anyone trying to compete with Google needs to be up front and detailed about how they handle your privacy, and what they'll do to protect you.

I got 1 paragraph in, wondered what the dock actually does, quickly skimmed a few lines to see it it had decent pics or explanation, then looked for the link to Kickstarter and left the site.

I'm curious about this too. Does Amazon have a bad reputation there? They also seem to mention themselves as little as possible on the site... the Kindle is "made by Kindle" rather than Amazon, etc. Yeah they've got prominent links in the f

Most of what I've seen has been via SQL injections in badly coded sites.

Same here. I went through 3 Kindle 3Gs and each was replaced within a day or 2, including them covering all shipping etc (I'm in Australia), and each without any fuss at all. Call them, explain that the screen broke, get a new one a few day

Agreed. I actually find it one of the nicer reading experiences on the iPhone considering so many other sites don't wrap properly and make me scroll sideways to read each sentence. I also don't get any of the blur mentioned when scrolling.

Absolutely. Mostly the extra clicks though with the slide up. If we already have to swipe a pattern to unlock, make that picture show up as soon as you wake the phone.

Crashed the HN app on my iPhone4 too. Not that I'm surprised, it's a pretty heavy page for the phone to load.

FTA: > The browser does redirect any Android Market requests to the Kindle app store; even if you turn off the accelerated browsing feature that routes traffic through Amazon’s servers. That means this hijacking isn’t done via the cloud

Agreed. I use the site lots and the most painful part is previewing themes. Need to click each one, then click to load the demo (or screenshots), just to see a rough idea of what it looks like. The preview thumbnails are completely useless

Just my story, so you can see how well it CAN work: I live in Australia. Last year I was diagnosed with aggressive nodular melanoma. In a matter of weeks/months it spread to all the lymph nodes in my left leg. I've been through a solid year

These are pretty much the exact same reasons for me. Ran my own business for 5 years, and went back to working for a big corporation for the easier hours, reliable/consistent pay, and only having to do what I do well, without all the extra

FWIW I have an XZ-1 and it's the single greatest (compact) camera I've ever owned. I can't talk highly enough of it. I sold my 50D w/ 24-105mm f4/L to trade down to something I can daily-carry and while it obviously doesn't completely compe

Being a cancer battler myself, i'd buy one, especially if it went to a charity that is actually doing good things with the money (and not one of the "foundations" that just use donations to fund their nice offices and TV ads).

I use a standard Chrome window + an Incognito Chrome window to do similar, but the problem with that is that if you open more Incognito windows (eg more then 2 sites at once), they share the cookies/etc with the first Incognito window. It'd

In Australia our 2 major supermarkets also run pretty good online versions. I doubt anyone could successfully compete with them here (they have a duopoly currently).

Is it a .com/net/org? If it's one of those random country TLD's not related to your own country or the name of your business, i'd say definitely "No."... if it's a .com/net/org or the TLD makes up part of the business name (eg i.bm, which d

It'd be really cool if this add-on + the Murdoch Block extension on Chrome actually redirected you to a Google News search using the title of the page you were trying to visit, so you could find an alternate source for the news item you wer
