I'm in China right now, and yes Google Maps is shit, at least in China. The AutoNav Maps iOS 6 utilizes is quite a bit better. That been said, in China the one map you have to beat is Baidu, and I see Apple still have a long way to go.

Apple is not a company only focus on profits, far from it, regardless what every other HNer is trying to paint them to be. Philosophically what is right and wrong, and to whom? That's another question. Of course using metaphysics to muddlin

It is rational cause Apple can be sure that it does not willfully infringe on others patents and risks regarding those patents mines unavoidable can be managed through ad hoc negotiation and lawyers, lots of lawyers. Given such a high profi

Oh, but Apple has been operating in this insane environment for 30+ years and trolls come out of the woodwork every week trying to get some quick buck off of them. And Apple has had lost a few IP fights in its years. I'm confident to say Ap

Yes, the battle is nasty and Samsung/Google (both are immensely powerful, and not human) is in no danger of being driven out. Why should I feel bad about it? I'd like to see 3X damage preferably as an AAPL shareholder.

You are wrong. What Apple does is rare and difficult and it takes courage, skill and taste. What Apple does lift the society and makes the world better, and the intellectual property system should protect this kind of enterprise. The patent

How high is high enough and the trial has being going on for fucking 18 months. In what unicorn infested world would Apple "leave it alone" and what constitutes "double down"? AAPL will at least pop briefly in a few hours, seems like you ha

Apple holds on to ideas until it declares yesterday's crown jewel garbage. Remember the funeral of classic Mac OS? All will be dead in time.

You then should have sold your AAPL the day Apple started suing Samsung. How is the outcome of this particular case affecting your reasoning in any way?

It seems Apple is using available means to build a moat that is proven quite formidable. You can disagree all you want, Apple does not live in your world. Fortunately you do not have to live in Apple's either.

But that's software isn't it? The Surface Pro hardware is just an Intel Tablet (albeit the slickest one), with the real keyboard cover, this is thicker than a MBA 11", roughly the same weight, unknown battery life and price. Hold the 11" MB

The problem with your scenario is quite obvious. Consumers do not see profit, they see price tag. Hardware comes with a price tag, so the options are sell at cost or find a way to subside the hardware. With Apple pushing for ever so cheap A

Phil Schiller is the "sales guy" at Apple, titled SVP of global marketing. Funnily enough, Steve Jobs himself is many times referred to, derogatorily, a master salesman even to this day.
