So you're saying we shouldn't put networking equipment of the sort in LEO? I don't understand your position. Switches in datacenters and deployed to provide internet to consumers are thrown away very frequently, and LEO satel

If you think about it, the satellites disintegrate in the atmosphere, reseeding the planet with whatever elements they're made of. Same as how many elements on Earth comes from asteroids!

Veritasium is good but it's definitely on the fluffy/filler content side of things. I wouldn't exactly call it the most valuable and informative videos out there. It's more breath than depth. Here's an example of so

To put things in context: at the time, the US wanted al-Qaeda and the Talibans to face justice, so this amnesty deal was not inline with that goal. It would have led to Taliban leaders walking without punishment aside from losing power. I&#

I'm a happy BEV owner but I'm usually in the camp that hydrogen fuel cells (HFC) probably make sense in some circumstances (ships, cargo, large plane, etc). But your argument of network effects for BEV is one I hadn't conside

Yeah but if before we had MxN complexity: - M: number of devs with their own machine - N: number of projects with their own way of bringing up dev env Using stuff like Codespace reduces M to 1.

I didn't say Rails makes a mess of a dev machine. What I'm saying is that every project makes different sort of assumptions about how it's brought up in a dev environment, and these assumptions vary wildly between projects an

The real problem that Codespace for stuff like the GitHub codebase solves, is not having to bring up the dev environment. Non trivial, organically certifiably grown commercial software has bunch of services that all eat different things in
