That's assuming it's actually harmful, which we have absolutely no proof of, just "think uh duh childrens" gut feelings. Society hasn't collapsed just because kids have had access to internet porn for a few generati

Damn, I really should have included JoJo as an example of straight male manga fans being totally cool with ludicrously flamboyant male characters. http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20121201210751/jjba/image... h

Objectification literally means treating a person like a thing. An example of objectification would be a "damsel-in-distress" character with no personality of her own, that exists only as a "reward" for the hero after hi

Again, I hate to respond in image macros, but the idea that women don't find men like Batman or Spider Man attractive is bullshit. http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2014/258/9/6/tumblr_mtg0

Batman is improbably built. See how his muscles bulge preposterously from his armor? [1] In real life, most body builders focused on "aesthetics" would have to starve themselves to bring their body fat levels low enough to create

The DS was designed to be backwards compatible with the GBA, so rather than leave that required hardware to waste, the GBA's CPU was employed as a sound and IO controller, and the GBA's 2D video hardware was mildly enhanced to sui

When did you work there? What you heard at EA applies to AAA console devs. If you're gambling everything on a blockbuster game with an enormous budget, it's true, I don't think it would be smart to make a PC exclusive today.

More like, the iOS app store gold rush ended. The indie dev scene is thriving on PC. Stop throwing your time and money away developing for a platform overwhelmingly used by people that don't really care about your games, that are looki

I should have been clear, I'm talking about Intel and AMD's monster desktop and server-class CPUs here, not mobile. For that matter, mobile GPUs are very different from desktop/console/HPC-class GPUs as well.

I'm aware of AMD's terminology here, and I disagree with it. They say "SIMD array of scalar processors" where "SIMT" makes much more logical sense to me. I believe the only reason that they maintain this "

Yeah, of course there are tasks that can be executed with coarse-grained parallelism, that can take advantage of multiple threads. It's not embarrassingly parallel though like with graphics, where you have millions of pixels that can

I had a pretty big post going, but vardump and Symmetry conveyed the gist of what I was going for much more succinctly, so I'll summarize:[1] GPU cores are tiny because the problems they deal with are "embarrassingly parallel"

One of the points Casey is trying to make with this series is that, at least in games, dynamic languages aren't quite the silver bullet for productivity that people make them out to be, and you can write your gameplay code just fine in
