Writing Gameboy emulator is fun, just like writing a raytracer. And it can be nice way to learn a new language. Is there something special/different in this project compared to many others? For me the most interesting GB emulation proj

RHEL 6.0, the version released something like 10 years ago? Yeah, that is going to be painful and maybe the way out isn't rebuilding everything manually but upgrading the system ;-) I only had to deal with RHEL6.x that had gcc 4.8 inst

I understand what you're trying to say but still, 10.0 was quite unusable at the time due to performance and stability issues ;-)

I don't have problems with retweets, I usually just stop following people who retweet non-interesting noise. Twitter however now also displays tweets people I follow have liked and that has been the worst change for me. People seem to

You are correct about Vulkan being higher level API than Metal in general but there are still Apple-specific functionality in Metal. For example when they released A11 Metal was augmented with a new shading stage intended to match HWs tiled

Syntactical issues are not so bad IMO, default scoping and version incompatibility between 5.1/5.2/5.3 are much bigger. Also the barebones standard library wouldn't be much of an issue if there would exist a stable ecosystem,

I've been using TweetDeck on Mac until it started crashing I guess after High Sierra update. Scrolling also works in somewhat weird way compared to other apps. The Twitter web app is a mess, it displays lots of tweets liked by others t

This is really interesting! I've been looking for a Lua-like Lisp implementation that would be as easy and clean to integrate, something that would compile with clang/gcc/msvc easily and allow spinning up multiple interpreter

Jealous of having to rely on Kafka client with not too much of testing or performance written from scratch on top of experimental language?

What is it exactly the added bonus _users_ get with the modern way of web development that wasn't there in, say 2011? I remember using Android 2.x with 800 MHz SOC back in the day and web browsing worked fine, really. What modern web s

What do you mean with heterogenous computing? Isn't that supposed to mean CPUs combining different types of cores like the Cell with SPUs or AMD APU with GPU? G5 was just a PPC implementation without any "sidekicks".

I'm having significant problems with High Sierra on MBPR 2013. WindowServer memory usage can get up to 5-8 GB before it starts to consume insane amounts of CPU and the system basically locks up and I need to reboot the system. Also si

Me neither. Also the "Why PPC" isn't exactly convincing. I'd happily buy a non-x86 notebook but I don't see any reason for choosing PPC honestly.

It is so easy and fun to write web apps in C. Just remember to test them with tsan/asan/valgrind and run through 2-4 static analyzers + check with couple of fuzzers too! Well I think I'll pass this one and hopefully don'
