In terms of API design and usage Glide is far closer to classic 1.x GL. I guess Glide could be defined as low-level API since it was defined by single vendor's architecture instead of some more abstract machine like GL and other APIs.

Classic. Switch from Intel to M1 felt more like an upgrade from NetBurst laptop to Core series for me, a great step forward but not really groundbreaking imho.

So what's the allocation pattern like (regarding malloc/free)? Last time I used scripting language in constrained environments it was Duktape and one of the issues was wildly varying allocations ranging from few bytes to kilobytes

Probably. It's funny that the game at least used to run better on Proton due to bad DX12 API usage workarounds implemented in the translation layer. Enabled mitigations can be tracked from https://github.com/HansKristia

Yeah the old Qt? client was great & snappy. It took quite some time to get basic features like cmd-f for the new client and it still does not support searching playlist by typing directly. Or at least didn't support year ago I stil

Well if you have a library or app without dependencies producing working Makefile for multiple platforms can work as with lua. But the moment you start introducing dependencies on external libraries everything breaks very easily even betwee

Fennel/Lua was the best option few years ago when I wanted to embed a lispy scripting language in another app. All of the alternatives failed on requirements like not having any global state, ability to replace memory allocators, prope

I've had issues with LuaRocks on pretty much all platforms. Some libs work fine (at least those without native deps) but the Luarocks native builds mostly lean on handcrafted makefiles. They usually come with hardcoded paths for librar

My favorite issue is that when the service is down it just doesn't run jobs or notify in any way that they are not being run. No "error" state in PR view or anything, let's just skip tests.

Cheaper to send the whole machine to Apple for servicing? I worked at a company where most users had simple PCs with dust filters and it took 5 seconds to clean those when fans started ramping up due to accumulated dust. I can't really

I just hope the new version is fast and not like Paint 3D which sometimes spends multiple seconds "creating a new project" when opening a simple PNG on a 5950X.

Yeah it's not great on Mac either. I have pretty much standard Firefox installation with only Ublock Origin added and it's extremely easy to get 16" Macbook Pro hot when Safari handles the same load without too much heat.

These can be quite useful when prototyping indeed but please keep in mind that they are not the most robust code around in terms of security and UB if you are actually shipping a product using these.

There aren't too many choices if you need to deploy something important in the most boring, reliable and maintainable fashion. I'm not a "fan" of CentOS like I'm not a fan of Toyota Hilux vehicles but both have thei
