Applies to a lot of things though. Just think what else you could replace the first part with, and whether it qualifies as an argument at all.

I cannot relate to what you write at all. In all my years in school, I did not witness a single day of attendance drop due to weather (the only weather-related exception was for the early years of elementary school, when you could choose no

Around here (this site I mean), the majority opinion doesn't find any problem at all with sleet and snow and cycling. The odd thing about this is how the biking paths around here (a city 60N) still remain relatively empty for a long ti

It's the exact opposite. I can't understand the amount of people who have elementary problems comprehending which way the clock changes "geographically" speaking, and what it means in practise.

Shame. "Professional" offendees got into Linus' mind at last, to no one's benefit. Enjoy the break at least.

On the other hand, I've never had my Linux desktop crash for decompressing a big ZIP archive. Of course, credit where credit is due, Explorer crashing isn't necessarily all that dramatic these days. The funny thing is, even when d

Also seems to support the "standard" shortcuts for formatting (Ctrl+I/U/B, perhaps others), but yeah, the introduction might be lacking.

A bicycle is also often more than an order of magnitude easier to steal; you can't just pick up a car, and a bolt cutter won't cut it even for a car worth $5,000.

The OCD notion of cleanliness doesn't always have really anything to do with any real germs or other pathogens. "Dirtiness" is more an abstract concept that varies and develops over time.

I'm not a doctor, but I'm almost certain your SO absolutely needs to discuss these things with someone to have any chance of relieving, or reversing the trend you mentioned. From my past experiences, I must unfortunately say that

Universal income, unrestricted immigration. Which is it that you really want? Both of course, people tend to want it all, and dreams to pay for it all. In 100 years it'll supposedly all work out fine, despite "short term" pro

Strictly speaking, the initial part of your assumption is not wrong, but the later conclusion is. array[x] and *(array+x) are indeed equivalent for any identifiers 'array' and 'x' (assuming one of those evaluates as a po

You're being a bit harsh on Subway, and maybe rating them on a completely wrong scale. A salad bar in a grocery store literally makes you put your food together, and not at altogether cheaper price compared to Subway.

I have no idea how Vicodin was designed; however, paracetamol (acetaminophen) wouldn't do that. It is liver toxic in higher doses, and can certainly kill your liver and you eventually, but that takes weeks.

I find it really hard to believe that the majority of a garbage crisis is caused by tourists "tossing their trash wherever" -- after all, underdeveloped countries have problems with trash even in places where tourists are rare. I&

Yes, I'm using that to see what bitrates are available. For the mentioned content, they range from very low to low (up to around 1000 kbps).

It could also be a lot worse than 720p. At least for me, most bigger (not netflix-original) titles are limited to 480p with maximum bitrates even below 1000 kbps when using a "partially" supported browser like Chrome. But even usi

Bitfields would be, in theory, safer still: no manual bit-twiddling to begin with and also quite straightforward usage. Unfortunately, they are (and I guess will remain) underspecified as far as portability is concerned. You can, of course,

I'm converting because earlier messages used dollars as well. I doubt that taxes that high exist anywhere in the US (1 USD/litre being almost 4 USD/gallon after all).

A funny coincidence: the excise duty on petrol here consists of several "parts", one of which is the carbon dioxide tax, which is currently about 0.25 USD/litre (in total the fixed taxes amount to a bit over 1 USD/litre)

Why not walk? That doesn't need even that dirty bus. In any case, around here petrol is once again over 7 USD/gal. It's certainly a bit inconvenient, but not the end of the world.

Bear in mind (pointed by the article as well) that variable assignment doesn't allow spaces around the equals sign, and that in this case the outer parentheses are unnecessary anyway.
