Presumably the main reason to get a card graded is if you intend to sell it? Does that not mean there’s an almighty supply shock coming to these markets?

Does anyone know how hard it’s going to be for the Raspberry Pi Foundation to add some extra PCIe lanes to a future model? These boards are really exciting but at the moment all they’re doing is trading off uses for the single PCIe x1 inter

Let’s not pretend back-end taxi/private hire vehicle dispatch is either a complex problem, or one that Uber solved themselves. They added a glossy mobile app to the equation. Many others have since done the same. Driver co-ops or small

I wouldn’t feel comfortable with RAID5/6 even on today’s ~10TB drives. The solution isn’t more parity disks, it’s to move away from that RAID set up entirely.

Just because cars are fungible to you, doesn’t mean they are to other people. The same applies to domains. Some people don’t care if they need to add an extra word, or pick a different extension. To other people it matters a lot.

All cars are produced in limited numbers, and luxury or classic cars can be extremely rare. Even mass produced cars are rarely identical. From new, there are a huge number of ways cars can be optioned, and on the resale market there are myr

Why are you conflating slavery and racism? They are interlinked but separate matters, and to imply all slavers were racist is akin to implying all racists are slavers.

RAID is an abstraction layer on top of the physical disks. RAID 1 (mirrored drives) is similar to what the IA have described, but it sounds like they are creating their mirrors using simple file system commands (or tools like rsync) rather

The paired disks are in a different physical location so they also provide a degree of geographic redundancy. Short of splitting a RAID array across two physical locations (a terrible idea), your proposal would require them to run mirrored

This is mentioned in the video, but they don’t use any form of RAID, just paired/mirrored drives in different physical locations. This is preferred for its simplicity and performance, and if I were in their position I would do the same

I’ve done this (JBOD with USB 3.0 drives on a Pi 4) and it’s surprisingly effective. I can easily saturate the 1G NIC which is more than sufficient for my use case. I don’t use RAID or ZFS so neither the CPU or RAM are limiting factors.
