Same here. My 2012 MBP has been upgraded with more RAM and a SSD and the battery is replaceable (but it's lasted better than my work 2017 model and is healthier!) but the cost of the new devices is so astronomical it'll be the las

Why are there so many Apple devices with 8GB RAM for sale on eBay then? The RAM prices for new Apple devices are 3x the normal rate so people get disappointed with all the Electron apps eating RAM and sell it!

It seems to be solving a problem that doesn't exist, as if edge cases were the reason to apply blanket restrictions. It's like banning knives because there's been a few stabbings. It removes the general utility due to misuse

DOS survived perfectly fine with deltree, whereupon it was possible to delete your file system. The decision on which bits of the system I can destroy should be mine, not theirs. That's the issue. At the moment, I am getting pushed out

I'm not being contrarian, I am asking why I wouldn't be able to modify my filesystem. It's quite simple. I can also do rm -rf ~/Documents or rm -rf /Applications or rm -rf /Library which has a similar devastati

That doesn't make sense. What is in / that is dangerous? Finder hides all of /etc and /bin and /usr for the "protection" of normal users, just like the default view for Windows Explorer under C:\Windows\Sy

I put all developer libraries that I do not want to put into a system path into /DevelopLibs. On Windows I put them in C:\DeveloperLibs. That way I can build supporting libraries of different versions software under there, eg. /De

They’ll pass the savings onto the consumers though right?? I mean, a fully specced MacBook costs over £3000 which seems expensive... Here’s hoping anyway!!

Why are new features in apps mentioned in an OS update? It is a recent trend but I recall being able to upgrade to Office 2003 from 2000 without requiring an entire new OS. These days, they talk about tiny features in one of the apps (eg. M

I used to use Linux as a daily driver until switching to macOS because I wanted to get stuff done instead of faffing around and learning edge cases for every app. I used to use KDE 3.5 which was near perfect and didn’t require learning new
