Reminds me of the Office 2013 ribbon bar - users preferred it apparently! They couldn't find any of the options they'd used for 20+ years but somehow preferred it! Thank goodness menus for Office still existed on the Mac.

Thanks! Shows me up for not noticing that. Thanks for highlighting it, I honestly would have not noticed it otherwise.

Why would a single application's behaviour get "fixed" by an OS update?? Isn't the issue with Zoom? Have you looked in Activity Monitor or Instruments to see what Zoom is doing to see why the machine gets sluggish?

I'm on High Sierra on one Mac and Mojave on another. Other than APFS, I cannot see any real differences in usability, other than opening quickview and then pressing shift and up to go to the previous file in a list (so you could look o

I can't agree more with your "we don't have standard UI primitives" and "every major website is expected to have a team of world class designers" comments. I have been migrating a site from an old to a new shop

I am surprised too. It is easy to talk to the devs about issues and also the documentation is good. There are some rough spots here and there but all in all I am really baffled why you don't see more use of it. I use it in C++ for all

How does dropping the existing table and recreating it affect FKs pointing to the table that is being dropped?? Do the FK relationships get destroyed??

What does df -h in the terminal say? It'll show the total of each partition (the normal, and the new read-only system partition) on their own line, thereby giving a false total. e.g. 1x 100GB disk, 50GB normal, 50GB system partition wi

Could someone educate me on what you mean by "cloud functions" ? I do not understand the concept of "serverless". To me, data has "live" somewhere. When one computer is storing that and serving it, it is by def

I am sorry if it seems like that. I was trying to emphasise concentration on and learning from the simple things in life (eg sparrows, sunshine, plant life) whilst controlling what your mind feeds on. If I were to go live in a tent in a rem

Every purchase can involve a receipt. Put the value of the receipt onto a spreadsheet after each purchase. Discard the receipt. Get into a habit of doing it. Also, spend on a credit card instead of debit. The credit card takes the fall in c

I think they just don't care. I had a look at Marx's ideas of people being in a certain class and engaging in a class struggle, rising up. But it didn't happen because people are mostly just selfish. They don't care if t

The world is in a mess, yes. It has been for some time. It is not a recent phenomenon. I am currently sat looking into my garden listening to the sparrows chirping, and the sun shining down on it. This is identical to the garden 50, 20, 10

I think the old addage "look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves" really applies. Some people don't seem to mind not really tracking their spending down to an extremely granular level (ie everything)
