This. I've worked in both greenfield and brownfield areas. The chief failuremode of greenfield is that it works, but it is unscalable and shoddily done. The chief failuremode of brownfield is some kind of feature cardinality explosion

This could be great news for open source actually, how do you think they are checking firmware signing keys and upstream servers?

N-way mirrors also have the property that ZFS can shard reads across them, which mattered a lot on spinning rust, since iops can be limited.

Surely they have no support from a country that historically has damaged submarine cables as a sort of hobby, right?

This is precisely why UEFI is a heap of garbage, and things like coreboot, u-boot are much more appealing. It is far too complicated, and the complexity of the standard, coupled with half-assed vendor code, mean that not only is the boot pr

Just works for me using open graphics drivers on linux, lots of different cards/displays/displayport revisions. HDMI tends to be weirder, at least on linux, with things like HDCP (EDONTCARE) and color space problems.

I recently managed to overclock a pair of xreal air AR glasses (USB-C DP altmode based) to 90hz using custom modelines, so it's still relevant.

It's not surprising to find that half the comments in this thread are about what other countries are doing or have done. I find it less than genuine, certainly those should be submitted as separate posts, and can be debated there on th

This isn't a proxy war between NATO and Russia, this is Russia invading a neighbor, and the neighbor being supported by many different countries, some of which aren't even in NATO or "the West". Framing it as NATO vs Rus
