I filed #11294, it's a non-issue for me now. Seemed like an API change stability issue, which happens. I think what a crypto-user might care about more in ZFS vs LUKS is precisely what gets encrypted: LUKS can be the entire disk, where

I had one of these, the hinge was the first hardware failure point. It should be possible to coreboot this using the chromebook version as a guide (not sure if boards are identical...probably?)

I got a pair of HP200s in the 90s for 40 guilders ($20 USD). Easily the best value headphones I have ever purchased, was a shame when they got stolen.

What is this premake binary, and where are the sources for it? EDIT: you can just install premake from package management, and use that instead of the checked in binaries.

It is almost always the case that a sufficiently malicious user can find a way to turn that into full blown root access.

It's about aligning incentives. If the user cost is the same, but the maintenance costs are higher, then something is broken, or you're eating the cost as a feature.

If you're casting to interface{} non-stop, you are doing something against the grain of the language. It works, but there's probably a better way of getting the result you are looking for.

I ran a large array of 5TB Seagate SMR drives. Everything was fine until a disk failed, at which point the resilver took almost 24h. This was an uncomfortable window, but otherwise the array was fine, although write speeds were about 15-40M

All of this is incredibly out of date. ZFS on linux uses SPL, not FUSE and growing filesystems on either platform (FreeBSD, Linux or Solaris) is easy

If you care enough to look, you should be using open source, not binary blobs. The current state of graphics on Linux are nothing less than a travesty to the Open Source movement, as many new users are pushed to the blobs. The ATI open sour

It's entirely possible on VirtualBox, but it requires you to have a similar processor to an existing Mac, and some additional wizardry. I can verify it works for some virtualization software through at least Snow Leopard...not sure abo

Run FreeBSD on it...NetBSD on PowerPC essentially requires a dual-boot or Apple_BOOT partition. FreeBSD has a cleaner boot (amongst BSDs, anyway...I do like yaboot).

My history seems to have timestamps on FreeBSD-CURRENT running bash. I had to use history | sed "s/^[0-9 ] //" | sed "s/ | */\n/g" | awk '{print $3}' | sort | uniq -c | sort -rn | head -n 100 > commands.txt

You can try it on FreeBSD-CURRENT...It's really night-and-day better than it used to be. Less underscores, and it runs about 20-40% faster than the old one even when "adding" software compiled from source (portmaster -day is almost twice as

A lot of the FreeBSD ports that are stuck on GCC are stuck there because of OpenMP for sure, or at least lose performance on clang...OpenMP on clang would be nice indeed.
