I hate Next.js because they make it extremely difficult to deploy an SSR app anywhere except Vercel. You basically have to use the Docker image to deploy your SSR Next.js app. I prefer https://remix.run or https://vik

This sounds good until you want to actually get things done. I don't think of React as merely adding needless interactivity, it's also an excellent view engine. It's extremely easy to get a site up and running with easy to re

Thank you! I watched a podcast episode with Rick Rubin and Andrew Huberman and they did a breathing exercise at the beginning with an app like this. Rick Rubin never mentioned the name of the app and when I tried to search the app store for

Every day I think about how great the web is, and how much of a shame it is that Apple has tried to destroy as much of the web as possible by getting developers to make iOS apps instead of web apps. If there was no app store the web would b

React/JSX is the easiest to read and comprehend. I find it a little more intuitive than Vue. If you want something simpler I would suggest Alpine. If you want something even simpler than Alpine I'd suggest HTMX.

Huh? If you don't want to write bare HTML/CSS/JS you can use one of the many frameworks that make writing web apps easier. Even if you hate React or Vue you can use Alpine. If you really hate Javascript you can use HTMX. The

Morning Brew gets good sponsorships because of their modern content. Modern content is making video, appealing to a target demographic (Gen Z for them), and being active on social media. Many newspapers don't care enough about social m

Microsoft owns Github, VSCode, Typescript, and NPM. That's like... my entire web development stack. Maybe it's fine now, but having one company own all of that makes me a little nervous.

At that point it seems faster to just learn how to write the logic yourself. Or get your answer from StackOverflow. To me this seems like we're trying to re-invent SQL in a weird way, where you can "write code like how you write n

It's possible to find probable duplicate files with the S3 CLI based on size and tags - I was working a script to do just that but I haven't finished it yet. Alternatively if you want exact backups of your computer you can use the

S3 has bucket versioning if you want to have multiple backups. The S3 sync command also does differential backups; if you for example try to run the script over and over it will only upload new/different files.

If you're using S3 to back up your files, it's easier to write a shell script with the AWS CLI. For example here's a script I wrote that I run automatically to back up my computer to S3. I have an exclude array to exclude cer
