I don't understand the purpose of the Vision Pro. VR tends to fall into the gaming niche use case. Which the Vision Pro doesn't do well. The other gimmicks like "big adjustable screen" are still... 2D screens in 3D space

Can't watch it with other people though. Still need to strap a heavy headset to your face instead of just clicking a button to turn the TV on. I'd still rather have a TV than Vision Pro.

I would pay $2,000 for great AR/VR glasses - not goggles like the Vision Pro or Quest. Something like the XReal Airs but higher resolution. Why Apple didn't work on this category - glasses - and instead worked on VR goggles, whi

It's funny too because it applies to almost every industry, and to almost every individual in those industries. I wrote and maintain the codebase for a government ETL pipeline that an entire analytics team relies on. It would in no way

Plastic is not a bad material and has practical use cases, mostly for weight. I have a pair of $700 Focal Bathys headphones that have a plastic housing. The housing is plastic not because Focal wanted to cheap out on materials. I'm sur

I still use Chrome, mostly because I much prefer Chrome dev tools over any other dev tool options. And I have a bunch of custom browser extensions I've made for Chrome. I haven't had issues with uBlock Origin - very occasionally a

A lot of the AI programming things you can do would be easier to either 1. type out yourself 2. copy and paste from StackOverflow 3. find a library that does the thing you want It's not like CoPilot is any better. It's like when

I built an ETL pipeline for a government client using just AWS, Node, and Snowflake. All Typescript. To cache the data I store responses in S3. If there's a cache available, use the S3 data, if not get the new data. We can also clean t

I'm not sure why Python web scraping is so popular compared to Node.js web scraping. npm has some very well made packages for DOM parsing, and since it's in Javascript we have more native feeling DOM features (e.g. node-html-parse

My theory of software design is that the designers who are designing software don't really understand how software works. They got into "product design" because it sounded creative and fun. They're glorified graphic desi

I don't get it. Why? The entire point of life is to reproduce. Every moment in history has technological changes. Your fear is driving you to make poor decisions. Having children is a biologically good decision.

Depends on the meeting. A demo for clients or higher ups? Sure. A stategy meeting that you don't have anything to contribute to? No. A meeting going over an email, that itself should've just been an email? Definitely not.

It's funny, I can't get myself to do many other creative activities I think I should enjoy (illustration, leather working, cooking) because of the tedium of doing the same thing over and over inherent in those activities. Programm

I bet if you made dating apps paid upfront at a lower price than premium subscriptions (e.g. $10/month rather than $20/month on other apps), you'd still get a ton of users as people are willing to pay for a way to find love,
