Bald is a “normal” (as in, not something the parents invented) name, although it’s not as popular as it once was. It’s a derivative of Baldwin/Baldric/Beald/Balder.

If you believe the marketing material it’s lower. Their API is the cheapest around, so either it’s true or they’re subsidizing.

IIRC many cruise missiles do a similar thing, except with radar and topographical maps instead of cameras and photos. Obviously the cruise missiles cost a hair more as well.

That 3 in your first example is definitely a magic number that should be either dynamically calculated from the number of elements being averaged, or defined as a const NUMBER_ELEMENTS_AVERAGED.

We’re not military, but I hear what you’re saying. Generally when I look at the costs of doing stuff onshore vs offshore it’s typically ~2x more expensive to do it here. That blows out any ambitions of competing purely on price pretty quick

You can do advanced electronics manufacturing in North America, it just has tradeoffs - primarily cost and process availability. I work for a company that builds high-end electronics over in Canada; Opinions are my own.

Yeah, that’s the thing that seems really silly about this to me - if your organization is competent enough to smuggle literally hundreds of cars out of the country, I’m sure you can smuggle a handful of small electronic devices in.

I actually have gotten a children’s picture book from a brand of cloth diapers that describes a silly and exaggerated story of how they invented their core product (a pivot from the two founders’ masters degrees in aerospace engineering). I

Both the 2040 and the Pi5 south bridge are in-house custom silicon, and fairly good at that. I think the parent post is alluding to the Pi foundation eventually building their own processors, and in the process hopefully shrugging off many

I don’t see why HN acts like you need to buy a 15 year old vehicle to avoid internal cameras. My 2020 Elantra has no internal cameras, and even if it did it doesn’t have a cellular connection - but it does have superior fuel economy and saf

This seems to introduce levels of artifacts that many artists would find unacceptable: https://twitter.com/sini4ka111/status/1748378223291912567 The rumblings I'm hearing are that this a) barely works with la

It would work the same as many other revenue sharing agreements out there (including those for Epic’s own Unreal Engine). Yes, there’s no technical mechanism to keep you from screwing the other party (and small-scale fraud will likely go un

I think (hypothetically, they may choose not to do this for a number of reasons) WoTC could still dramatically cut back on how much they pay artists by “outsourcing” things like backgrounds, extended art, etc to AI so long as the focal poin

That sounds roughly correct based on when I worked at a theatre, although back then they mailed you drives. Worth noting that the movies are encrypted and you only get decryption keys at release. But Sony hasn’t made projectors in a while.

At the price point the OP is running at I’d say one of the Apple USB-C DACs is your your best bet. They’re volume limited on Android, but the OP’s headphones are very sensitive already so I don’t think it matters.

I don’t think it’s highly realistic to leakproof something as large as a landfill - we can’t even consistently leakproof house foundations, and those are smaller, easier to inspect, and higher budget. And that’s for new landfills, I don’t t

It’s a bit unintuitive, but IIRC you need to go into the settings and tell it to download the card art. Two reasons for this: 1, copyright and 2, it’s a big download if you get them at full quality.
