Brilliant... excellent buy for Google. I have used QuickOffice across several mobile devices and it always impresses. Tie this to Google Docs, scrap that Android "Docs" thing Google launched last year, and we have a winner. Not to mentio

I'm a Windows user and I use LibreOffice. The new version really is excellent. I've debated for a bit which version I should be on (Open vs. Libre) but as of this release I am very content to stay put.

Very true, but when they started working on a driver-less car in 2006, they were still thought of as a search company. They hadn't yet bought Youtube or DoubleClick.

Agreed as it sits now... but maybe the current form factor is the limit of today's technology. And maybe the insights they get from even attempting to develop that kind of interface puts them 5 years ahead when someone invents a holographic

The one little thought I would add to that is that when Google first started working on a self driving car everyone went "WTF is a search company doing..". Now, X years later... it's a different story. People have started to really think

"Google is getting good, really good, at building things that see the world around them and actually understand what they’re seeing." That statement spells it for me. With Google I see research, I see pushing tech boundaries and hardware e

re: #3... you can also remove items at will. If you look at the counters and find option C is consistently the lowest performer, then you can remove it from the code and remove the counter. It doesn't mean cruft needs to pile up.

The thing that gets me about a lot of these products being built around the iPhone, iPod, etc... is what happens if the next generation changes the physical form factor? It may mean getting a new iPhone also means having to replace 10 othe

This is slightly off topic but simply stated I just love IBM these days. There aren't many corporations that dedicate as much focus on research and yet, for a large corp. they also keep their nose surprisingly clean (these days). While we

While I like the concept of the open maps idea and I'm sure it has a bright future, what about aerial views, street view, etc? Is this not a functionality step backwards for FourSquare hopping on such a new service at this point? The bigge

I disagree that we will ever see a FULL fusion of desktop and touch OS's. Sure the OS may present two interfaces and they will be married closely but honestly I don't ever want to see "one interface to rule them all". Fact is we're used to

Visually it looks nice but practically I don't think it works for a lot of users. I would guess that with all the white-space and over-sized elements you're only getting maybe 50% of the same content on a screen layout. What this would be

I wonder if this proposal (which was inevitable eventually) is a direct result of a couple things. - Apple decides (wrong or right) to not support Flash on a wildly popular mobile platform - Flash begins its demise in general (again inevita
