I'm sure people are stupid, I've seen it myself too many times to count, but how does he know that these weren't executed in a VM? A couple hundred shells isn't so much that I'd rule out that some non-trivial fracti

Housing costs are up in low price areas. For example, I stayed in Kiev for a month because I can work anywhere. Did the same thing in Vilnius and other low cost cities. Digital nomads and vacationers from countries with high standards of li

Oh please. That's a complete excuse. One is more than capable of rending out the room then keeping price/1.14 for themselves. These fine print notes for taxes were such malarky.

In a stock market flight to safety you go to the greenback because the USG is the worlds primary reserve currency and is backed up by the power of the American financial system. I'm not talking about a stock market flight to safety. I&

If this were true, Zimbabwe would have a lucrative stockmarket. It's not true though. A high enough inflation rate damages investor confidence and makes business operations more complex. I means constantly needing to minimize cash on h

It means a massive crash is coming. Money printer go brrr is funny, but it's not capable of propping up the entire market forever. There's a flight to safety that happens when countries really start printing.

People conflate risk (likelihood of the event) and hazard (amount of harm if the event happens) and I think it degrades our conversations. The issue with software is that hazard has quite a large range, due to class attack (hitting all in

Should be a tiny mechanical device in addition to the light and it should only unlock with touch id. Same for microphone. Honestly, I want the same thing for phones too. The ease by which we are monitored is too damn high.

I never really did much REPL programming until I started using pdbpp with a bunch of aliases and customizations in pdbrc and pdbrc.py (the former does aliasing[0] the latter does setup before boot) it makes iterating with a test suite so mu

It always mystifies me that philosophical debates can even get that far when it's impossible to prove that a mind can know a truth because it begs the question. It's hard to even follow that previous sentence with my own view beca

It's not showing up in this specific dataset, but listenership is down ~20% basically across the board. Edit: At least as of last month, when I last talked to my friends in podcasting / in advertisement purchasing for podcasts.

It is possible in Excel to have named cells and to use python. Personally, I think this is better than what you propose unless you want to spend the next couple years trying to make a business out of it.
