I am curious about how the old-style traders actually did their jobs. Did they base their trading decisions on data or instinct?

Rail and electrified commuter air could be complementary. Nothing beats rail for moving large number of people efficiently.

The problem is that even if its completely subscription based and has no native advertisements of its own, your data remains very valuable so there is an incentive for the company to sell your data.

Potentially very useful but it had incorrect names for the county level officials in my county. There does not seem to be any way to send in corrections.

Really well done. I will recommend this to my local school district.

Looks promising but it would be useful . One of the problems with hardware hacking in the US is the demise of local shops like Radio Shack that sold components. It can be very intimidating to order a few parts from the big sellers like Mous

These appear to be from the 1990s mainly. They are very good but there was a lot of good stuff from the late 80s as well - many happy memories of reading posts by from John Mashey, Eugene Miya and Henry Spencer etc. On an side, I understand

Its not just automation. There have been many more applications of optimization to reducing operating margins. At my company, there was, for example, a project aimed at identifying the optimal service intervals for heavy mining equipment. A

Interesting. I was sure that a more powerful motor and powertrain would be heavier and more expensive to manufacture. Looks like I need to study more on this.

I think would. A car similar to Leaf with a 400 mile range would be very attractive for me.

I don't want 1000 hp in a car. I'd be happy with say 200 hp and go for extreme range instead. I have no problem with a car that takes 12 seconds to accelerate to 60 MPH. I would not mind paying say $75000 for such car but but it d

Wow - I had no idea that Atari was even in this space. Talking about Transputers, I spent all of 1989 working on a Meiko computing surface with 40 T800 Transputers. Had a glorious time writing code in Occam for the traveling salesman proble

Exactly the same here. It's 4:16am right now and I just fixed a problem in my code that seemed baffling last night. I used to try and push myself to finish things at night but have come to realize that most of the real thinking happens

Not trolling but genuinely curious what kind of things you are trying to advertise. I have read elsewhere exactly the opposite that Facebook ROI is very good due to the precise targeting. I am just a back-end developer!

This may be very well received in the model railroad community. When building a layout, one of the techniques (called cookie cutter) for creating the subroadbed is to cut out shapes from a sheet of 4 by 8 plywood similar to this gadget. See
