Once I figured eBay out, it's about 90% eBay, 5% Amazon, 5% other. Amazon does a great job of making it appear that they are the best option to shop at. But they really aren't. Even with Prime Free Shipping, if you search eBay cor

> What exactly are YOU doing here that merits a payday? The hard part. Finding a product people want. If that were so easy, Amazon would just be a store, no sellers. That part they can't do themselves.

Food cost in restaurants in similarly shocking. They operate on metrics similar to BOM. Might shock you to find out how much that $40 pizza cost in dough, sauce, cheese and toppings. (Probably just a couple bucks).

A common phenomenon in the age of ChatGPT. Making the mistake of thinking you can spot AI writing because you can spot bad AI writing. You're only spotting the bad. The good you think is real. Some of the best cover letters and answers

> I think, sadly, you're incredibly far down the rabbit hole of ageism. That doesn't make me wrong. Is it ageism to say I'd rather have a 23 year old baseball player than a 60 year old one? What about a 23 year old model i

I like my software written by nerds, not business guys from the dotcom era. You can try to poke holes in that with whatever isms you want, it's still true. And I'm not alone.

> I've never heard "web 1.0 guy" as a pejorative Web 2.0 replaced Web 1.0, right? Is that because Web 1.0 was better or just as good? Or was that because Web 2.0 was an improvement? And we're a good decade or so beyon

The new CEO concerns me. I didn't know who the founder was but I always had the impression it was a lone hacker. They passed the baton. Now it's some old Web 1.0 guy who was the CEO of eFax in the 90's. That's not the ty

Check the view counts that they now publish. Every Tweet has orders of magnitude more views than likes, comments or retweets. Those are all of the lurkers.

sports subreddits. r/nba, r/nfl, my teams. my city subreddit r/chess + r/anarchychess (chess memes) crypto subreddits ya, those are the main ones. then all sorts of randoms. r/ProtonMail is a good random one.

If you were me, you may not consider yourself to be ok. To give a simple explanation: I'm an extreme loner. Reddit is my human connection. I've been doing it for many years. I don't like it or dislike it, it just is. I'm

Probably just the way you use them? You Tweet and lurk Reddit? All user generated content is read heavy. Most people just lurk. Twitter publishing view counts is demonstrating this clearly. You'll get 3 likes, 2 comments, and 400 views

It has actually gotten a lot better. Incremental progress for a few years and we're in a fairly good place. This is highly unusual.

I've given up trying to self host stuff like that, it's always a nightmare compared to paying for the service. Plausible Analytics being a prime example. Bitwarden can have my $10 a year.

Not really, since they are the ones who will probably end up buying it. Overvaluing it raises the price they'll have to pay for it later.

It's a complex deal. I think we can assume sama didn't take a bad deal. This is all clearly just a prelude to Microsoft buying the whole company.

Thanks for that. As a new Stripe user I've been worried about this. Waking up one day to find my account locked and money frozen. Sounds like if I simply run a clean business, I don't have much to worry about. Logically that makes

If I land on a random web app and it says Copyright 2021 I am going to assume it's not being actively developed, and may not have been touched since 2021. Does it matter for airbnb.com? Probably not.

Those status pages are useless these days. Basically everyone always says stuff is running fine, even when they have total outages.

If you haven't, you might checkout HBO Max. It's got a much better lineup of movies than Netflix imo, especially in that timeframe.

I don't pirate for similar reasons. I just like the UX better. I like all these apps on my tv full of content. Until like 2015 pirating was the better UX so I did that. But now it's a pain in the ass relative to what streaming off
