I got a form that said "To see how your results compare to those of others, please provide the information below." There was not really much more information, but it said 99 is "low".

One rarely sees earth and moon to scale at the correct distance. I think this leads many of us to often have a broken intuition about these things. And while these new images are spectacular, the distance between moon and earth is not obvio

"Phong" refers to two distinct but related things: The Phong reflection model (Ambient + Diffuse + Specular) and Phong shading (normal vector interpolation). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phong_reflection_mode

That's exactly what it does, no? (Standard triangle shading technique, interpolating colors between the mesh, Gouraud shading without the lighting.) Phong shading (interpolate normal vectors) wouldn't make sense, as the mesh has n

Barycentric coordinates are "weights" (u, v, w) that determine a point P on a triangle (A, B, C) by weighting the triangle corner points. You can calculate the cartesian coordinates of P = u * A + v * B + w * C. Since the weights

I don't know about internally or disk formats. The vertical tab turns up when copying and pasting to a text editor though.

Random fact: Microsoft PowerPoint inserts a vertical tab when you press Shift+Enter, e.g. to start a new line inside the current bullet point.

Interesting. I don't use Object-C, but always heard parameter names are actually considered to be part of the method name there. Was that wrong? Ah, or do you mean the name is just empty? How does that work on the implementation side?

Alternate (even better) solution: Use a language where you can optionally name parameters, like C#. xhr.OpenUrl(url, async: true);

A runtime that can support both v2 and v3 files is a nice idea and has been proposed before, but is virtually impossible because of the unicode changes. I don't understand where you see the mistake in Python 3 with unicode. What encodi

I agree migrating is painful, and supporting both even more so. But not because of print. Migrating print statement usages and even making them work on python 2 and 3 is trivial, even fully automated and statically verifiable. Compare that

There has actually been a lot of focus on making migration less painful, including restoring some removed features, e.g. Python 3.3 has added back the unicode literals. This is limited to things that are actually painful to migrate though n
