Here's something I think about sometimes: we're not far from a future where it would be trivial for every major city to have drones flying over it 24x7, collecting everything - license plates, faces, electronic signals, and so on.

Because in general the military in the US is far more secretive than they used to be. In the past there was a certain expectation that the DOD had at least some obligation to keep the public informed of what was happening within our borders

I'd disagree, only in that new passes always list boarding time in addition to departure time. They also tend to use better layout in general.

It's not short sighted. Most upper management in those sorts of companies isn't there for any kind of a long haul. They win if they can impress the VCs with what they shipped in the last few months, doesn't matter if none of

This is just a rude and dismissive comment for no reason other than smug snarkiness.

This makes no sense to me. Why wouldn't the companies expand their output if they have idle workers? I feel like you described 1/10th of the issue and it's up to the reader to fill in the rest?

There are two types of Mongo shops in the world: 1) Their product hasn't launched yet. 2) They desperately regret using Mongo and are trying to get rid of it.

This kind of fairytale claim from Kreps does real harm in the world. I spend a not-insignificant amount of time in my job trying to convince junior developers that no, there is no magic fairy dust that lets them stop having to think about C

Google lost nothing. China never had any intention of allowing Google to become dominant in China. That was apparent from day one and comports perfectly with their explicitly stated and demonstrated agenda.

You should be downvoted, you're right and the order they used is wrong and requires your brain to rearrange it. If op wanted to use that ordering they should have used "with" in place of "for".

Small memory footprints not-concidnentally help significantly with both power consumption and benchmarks. It's a win all around for the manufacturer to short change the standard ram offering.
