After my current experiences running linux on a laptop with an optimus enabled graphics card I can safely say that I am never again going to buy a laptop with discrete graphics to run linux. It's been a pain getting Bumblebee to work (optim

I've been looking at getting a macbook air recently (because shiny), specifically to run linux on it. However, I couldn't find much about driver support for recent airs. How well does linux run on it? Is there much that doesn't work properl

I feel like it'd be cheaper for manufacturers to write better QoS drivers specifically for tomato, or wrt, than whole new firmwares, surely?

It really worries me, especially as it's not just differently structured distros like arch that are out in the cold, but debian, which Ubunutu is derived from.

Also, specifically Ubuntu - it depends on a higher version of libc6 than is available in everything up to and including unstable in Debian repositories, it's only available in experimental.

Babbage's machine was really a glorified calculator. Turing's conceptual machine is a way of representing what computation fundamentally is .

Ah, I think I see, so people who are already aware of, and discussing it are able to, but later people are blissfully unaware of it.

I will admit, I don't manage my time tremendously; I get up late, I go to bed late. However, the time in between is spent doing the things I mentioned before, not on idly flicking between youtube, facebook etc. I'm not sure - I may suffer f

As an aside: apologies for the fact that this comment is repeated a couple of times below, I was posting it from train wifi, which kept cutting out, so I was unaware it hadn't posted the first two times. By the time I realised the 2 hour li

I'm currently at uni, studying computer science. I can very much relate to the problem of being unable to read a book to completion, however I fundamentally disagree with the reasons given in the article. In my experience, it's not a proble

To look at popular culture, the entire article reminded me of the plot of brazil, and the protagonist struggling with the rigid human beaurocracy that refused to accept that it had made an error.
