I think most people scratch their heads when they hear Windows 11 because it seems like the same Windows but skinned with a slightly new UI. This is also from a company which puts function over form.

With RISC-V and SiFive, companies are able to build their own optimizations and make them MORE proprietary. I'll cringe if VLC will come with various versions: x86, M1, IntelRISC-V, QualcommARM, SamsungARM, SamsungRISC-V etc.

From what I’ve been able to gather, the excessive paging may actually have to do with non-native apps running on the M1. Avoid those.

I've been a dormant Mac-user for the last two decades. Personally, I wasn't happy about paying more for less performance back then. PCs have had more expansion options and in a pinch, I could also make my PC a Hackintosh build wit

It seems like giving out RPi's seem like the perfect reward. It's tangible and it helps keep environments separate versus a Windows or Mac laptop. Kids can take risks on the RPi by breaking things which is a good learning techniqu

I get your point but I recently bought a RPI with 8GB RAM. Although it is in no way comparable to a modern Celeron or Pentium, SBC's are already to the point where they can sufficiently be used for web browsing.

I'm happy that abstraction has been working well for operating systems. I always think that one day, porting the OS from one device to another is as simple as copying over a VHD file.
