You should try bike touring if you can! If you love the immersion of driving, cycling, especially in wild environments, is 10x more intense in that regard. Every smell, the feeling of fog or drizzle or sun, the feel of the dirt or road unde

I chafe at the US (and NA) tendency to stray from otherwise global standards, but in this case I'm not convinced it really matters. Car companies are already really good at localizing vehicles to regions, so that's not an argument

I worked in this space for years. The answer is no. If you evolve a multirotor design to be more and more efficient you will end up with fewer, larger rotors, until the time comes that you require variable pitch to have sufficient control b

Adding friction to the things you're not trying to do is the whole part of the article. You're creating tunnel "walls" of friction to make it so traveling down the tunnel is the most straightforward action.

It's difficult to get large battery packs right. In order to limit the possibility of catastrophic runaway of the pack you have to have extremely robust inter-cell or inter-module thermal isolation and heat rejection. These features ar

Group chats. Email. Good ol' hanging out at the pub. The lesson of the last decade is that any tech or platform that relies on advertising to exist will eventually become perverted to ends that oppose those of its users.

Google news is the same. At some point it decided that I must follow every sniff and fart coming from a certain electric car tycoon, and there was no negotiating.

I've been trying to figure out if other people get this too! Finally I'm able to corroborate this. Never thought of it as chalky, to me it's indescribable in a way that one might attempt to approximate with such a word. Not r

My opinion: HN has a particular culture and attitude to discussion that can be grating for non-users. One example: HNers tend to approach topics as if they have a solid grasp on the context of a matter, and are often negative, hence dang&#x
