My ex's dad flew for a US carrier. I got to hear a bit about how raw a deal new pilots get these days. Apparently it's much less desirable as a job now as commercial aviation works on tighter margins.

You don't even need multireturn, typically your point cloud will have points from the tree or whatever plus some that returned from the structure behind it.

I have been using Obsidian Web Clipper to save stuff to read later. If you already use Obsidian it's worth a shot. It's not perfect but it does a reasonable job of translating articles etc. into markdown. I don't actually kno

If this scenario relies on DC operators to give away money, I doubt it could ever seriously represent the bulk of what the industry is doing.

"healthy" is a very loose term it seems. I know many people who would be called healthy by their doctors simply because they didn't have any concerning medical history or present concerns. I think I may agree with you that &q

I'll never forget this moment when I was up the side of a mountain at night and my headlamp caught the glint of retro reflecting eyes about 25m away. Wait a minute, those eyes are front facing... Predator eyes. The eyes followed a grac

I do 10-15 hours of cardio a week lol. I make an effort to take care of my knees because at those training loads, having bad bike fit or an uncorrected varus knee issue can mean really messing things up for yourself. My question was how muc

I have ridden a bike for 24 hours+ several times and have not experienced anything like that. Mild post exertional resting HR increase is normal (going from 50 to 65, say) but I think you had a different issue.

Trail running has a lot of weird loads associated with it, at least where I am. Roots and rocks galore, never a dull moment.

rucking seems like it would be bad for one's back and knees? How much weight do you use? It seems like one of those things that's military inspired, except I don't have the VA to look after me if I wear out my hard goods.

Sometimes I see chatter about using solar or nuclear or whatever power for data centers, thereby making them "clean," and it's frustrating that there isn't always the acknowledgement that the clean energy could displace

Reading comments like this bolsters my appreciation for why aviation went "nope, you're just using UTC now. Chicago, Lagos, Doha, Novosibirsk... All UTC, err, Zulu time."

Here's the thing - likely few would have noticed. We are structurally blind to the places in which public investment would have made our lives better, especially when they are things like scientific research that the vast majority neve

I heard a similar statement recently, which is that due to the nature of politics, there are decades where nothing is possible, followed by a couple of years where everything is possible, and you spend the former preparing and pushing for

Use a custom launcher. I run Nova, and have for my last three phones, which means my interface stays consistent, and I never have to see the search bar. My home page is a calendar that takes up 75% of the screen, and two rows of icons below

The shenanigans Google pull in order to harvest location data (and prevent you from easily opting out!) really piss me off. I have a second phone that's got Graphene on it as a result, it's pretty much just the location service sp

Macbooks get used for pro audio and video things that phones generally don't, and the much larger form factor means that the 3.5mm jack is far less of a design tradeoff.

I don't think that the 'shiny object' allure applies to industrial tools to the same degree as with consumer goods. Every machine shop I've ever been in, save for maybe a couple, is stuffed with used machine tools, plent
