Housing is a municipal jurisdiction, healthcare is a provincial jurisdiction and immigration (direct, temporary, students, refugees) is a federal jurisdiction (except Quebec has its own immigration jurisdiction). Bringing in millions of people in a short time without coordination with other jurisdictions to manage housing demands, healthcare demands and needed infrastructure upgrades was grossly incompetent. Not quite on the epic scale of incompetence as Chairman Mao and eliminating the Sparrow (in terms of consequences) but equally as idiotic in terms of narrow minded thinking.

    Where I live, I see massive amounts of homeless people that i did not see before COVID; despite the skyrocketing prices of real-estate before COVID. The high cost of housing was already a problem before these Wizards decided to flood the country with immigrants. They just looked at the problem of declining birthrates/population and said oh we need to import massive amounts of people in a short time to solve that problem. Narrow minded thinking. Just like Chairman Mao with the Sparrows. Look it up if you are not familiar with it. He saw the sparrows as a problem so decided to kill all the sparrows. By killing the sparrows he ended up creating a famine that killed around 40 Million people through starvation! These clowns did something similar. They looked at the birth rates and decided to bring in massive amounts of people in, in a short time, without considering the problems that that would bring. So yeah, Chairman Mao "in the same breath". Canada has one of the highest mortgage debt to GDP ratios in the world. That's high private debt. High private debt is what created the Great Depression in the 1930s. Bringing in massive amounts of immigrants fueled this taking on of high amounts of mortgage debt enormously via landlordism. So yeah again, Chairman Mao "in the same breath". Should mortgage defaults explode, its taxpayers who backstop CMHC. That could mean Jean Chrétien/Paul Martin style savage cuts to government services to cover those losses: i.e. austerity. Ever since those 90s cuts to services we've had lots of people sleeping rough in the street who used to be cared for in mental hospitals. Now they roam the streets and stab people.

  More people leads to more competition in the job market and housing space. There's no universe in which they are not linked. It's a natural consequence of near 20% population growth in a decade

  I was arguing that bringing in massive amounts of people in such a short time that the other levels of government have no time to plan to deal with the logistics of it. --to be clear, my anger is at the politicians not the immigrants. And as another comment pointed out: yes bringing in lots of people puts upward pressure on rents and downward pressure on wages which will lead to an increase in homelessness and can lead to an increase in drug use as a result (of homelessness). And then a vicious circle of drug use contributing to unemployment and homelessness. Did you knee-jerk it because I mentioned immigration? I BLAME the politicians NOT the immigrants. Look up how many MPs are landlords. They were blinded by their own self interest.
