As of now users do not know how to build custom software nor how to deploy it.
They never heard of Codex.
Building production ready software also takes hours to months, depending on the scope of the project.
In my opinion now is the best time for building apps that you sell to users.
- XCSme 1mo agoI very strongly agree. I think the next 2-4 months are the best time ever to build and sell software. But it has to sell now. It will likely be obsolete in 1 year, and no one will care anymore. I think this is the last easy chance to capture an audience.
- hobo123 1mo agoPeople will always pay for packaged convenience and a vendor that will keep things working/compatible in the future, IMHO.
- XCSme 1mo agoThis will only work for online/hosted software, right? If local one can be one-shotted? Or not everyone would care or know how to use AI...
- hobo123 1mo agoI think there is value in an app you can drag/drop or exe you can just click (trust issues aside, maybe get them from some marketplace or walled garden) and that will keep working after the next OS update or get updates for future changes in XYZ.
- prima-facie 1mo agoFor one-shotted apps you still need to: 1. know how to do it well 2. maintain it 3. host it (if online)
- XCSme 1mo agoCan't you ask Astra to do that too? That's the promise, that it can use the computer as you would.
- wartywhoa23 1mo agoOy wey, one might have thought that the AI is to the benefit of the whole humankind, but no, let's all eat the smaller fish before the big one eats us! The ultimate truth behind all those loud slogans.
