Iran Is Using Foreign Criminals to Attack Its Critics Overseas

- doodlebugging 1mo agoSounds like some of Trump's people are double-dipping Uncle Sam and the Ayatollah.
- tyjen 1mo agoReminds me of a recent story about a Norwegian teenager who traveled to the UK to perform a hitman job for the Foxtrot Network, a Swedish organized crime group linked to Iran. The teenager received instructions from someone called "Agent 47." EDIT: Article for reference, https://archive.ph/xNSr2 https://archive.ph/xNSr2.
- firefax 1mo agoCan you give me the original link? I know all about archive dot ph.
- pazimzadeh 1mo agoterrible. pretty sure all major intelligence agencies do this to some degree
- NDlurker 1mo agohttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardeep_Singh_Nijjar https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardeep_Singh_Nijjar Too many examples from US, Israel, Russia
- NordStreamYacht 1mo agoSome degree? They're all criminals and therefore all of them do this.
- gcanyon 1mo agoNo matter how absurd the situation becomes, no matter how engaging the videos are, we should never be fooled into thinking Iran are the good guys. This is an unfortunate, ill-conceived war, but that doesn't clean Iran's hands.
- FpUser 1mo ago>"This is an unfortunate, ill-conceived war" - yeah, like we went in and killed some people. Oopsy but that's ok cause we're the good guys. Your logic stinks disregarding how bad the other side is.
- ElProlactin 1mo ago> No matter how absurd the situation becomes, no matter how engaging the videos are, we should never be fooled into thinking Iran are the good guys. I don't think there are many people who believe "Iran are the good guys." Lots of people do understand that bombing civilian infrastructure, killing innocent civilians, and taking actions that were inevitably going to lead Iran to respond with the goal of inflicting widespread economic damage has in many ways actually helped and emboldened the Iranian regime. This wasn't just "unfortunate" and "ill-conceived". It was stupid and arguably criminal.
- newspaper1 1mo ago> I don't think there are many people who believe "Iran are the good guys." I'd consider them allies at least given that all of the bad guys hate Iran with a burning passion. Iran is also the only major country on earth that have actually stood up to Israel and helped defend Palestinians.
- applicative 1mo ago[flagged]
- newspaper1 1mo ago> It stood up for Palestinians by what? Iran is the only country that has retaliated against Israel. They literally bombed Tel Aviv and multiple other targets in Israel. They also support Hezbollah (also fighting Zionism and defending Palestinians). > Annexing Lebanon? The only people annexing Lebanon are the Zionists.

- newspaper1 1mo agoIran has nothing on Israel when it comes to interfering with other nations. This is simply propaganda and missing the elephant in the room (on purpose of course).
- tim333 1mo agoI've never heard of Israel trying to kill overseas critics? As opposed to terrorists who try to kill Israelies.
- SHAKEDECADE 1mo agoI've never heard of Israel trying to kill overseas critics?.. Could it be because they're really good at it?
- red-iron-pine 1mo agolord knows they sure kill or kidnap people overseas tho but i'll concede some of them were literally nazis
- newspaper1 1mo agoThey kill journalists (not even critics) all the time. They've murdered people in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Yemen... I'm sure they've killed plenty of people in the US and elsewhere as well. Epstein was an Israeli op after all.
- whoareyouthen 1mo agoPalestinians say that Israel deliberately kills palestinian journalists, poets. I lived in Israel, and know Israel well enough to believe this is true.
- firefax 1mo ago>Iran has nothing on Israel when it comes to interfering with other nations. This is simply propaganda and missing the elephant in the room (on purpose of course). I'm so tired of this geopolitical whataboutism. Once at tech policy happy hour, someone got in my face and demanded I affirm that Israel has a right to exist. They recoiled as if they'd been physically struck when I shot back "Israel has a right to exist and not do war crimes... just like Saudi Arabia". (I don't give a fuck if you have dip-lo-mat-ic imm-un-itt-y. I've slapped the soul out of someone in Farragut Square before, and as I sit here looking at the data, I've concluded I'll probably do it again, don't you ever put your fucking hands on me.) There is no reason to treat the leaders of Israel any different than the leaders of countries like UAE, Qatar, etc. (And if it was up to me, we'd send all these fascist motherfuckers on a free trip to The Hague.)
- King-Aaron 1mo agoThe Israeli government has openly and publicly stated they will spread false information and propaganda directly through social media etc, which they heavily control all throughout the west, and have directly threatened western politicians that don't support their (often false) rhetoric, along with themselves conducting terrorist activities outside their own borders. I'm frankly quite tired of hearing about how terrible the Iranians are (and they are), because the people they are fighting are arguably worse. Iran are a threat to the middle east, but they're fighting nations that are actively a threat to the entire planet.
- King-Aaron 1mo agoLol the pro zionist accounts are arriving it seems.
- Sabinus 1mo agoHow are the Israeli and US governments a threat to the entire planet and (arguably) worse than a authoritarian fundamentalist religious regime? If Iran gets a nuke are they more or less likely to use it than the Israelis? Does Israel heavily control social media throughout the West? Multiple foreign governments are ruining influence operations. We should be talking about the effects that has on our public sphere, and the existence of Israeli influence operations doesn't mean we handwave away Iranian influence.
