Why does everything have to be named after Lord of the bloody Rings
- DoctorDabadedoo 7mo agoEveryone wants to be the One to rule them all. I just want to retire in the Shire away from this AI non-sense (no jabs, just mild burnout).
- unsupp0rted 7mo agoBecause it takes years to get paradigm-shifting tech off the ground. You need hyper-obsessive nerds (the kind who were hyper-obsessive in school about D&D and LotR) to bring it to fruition. The non-LotR namers give up early.
- colesantiago 7mo agoThis makes absolutely no sense.
- fearmerchant 7mo agoAnd yet somehow it works...

- unsupp0rted 7mo agoTo be fair it makes some sense. Otherwise where do you get Anduril?

- xyzsparetimexyz 7mo agoAt least its this and not a book i actually care about. I shudder to think of a world where all the tech companies are called like 'Ghola', 'Giedi Prime', 'Heighliner', 'Harkonnen' etc
- prewett 7mo agoIf the "launching soon" on tleilaxu.com is to be believed (unlikely), you might find yourself in that world. It'd certainly be a compelling name for a biotech company, although I'd find a company with that name a very troubling sign.
- DonsDiscountGas 7mo agoPi isn't
- riskable 7mo agoListen, one does not simply walk into a new project without naming it properly. It's your precious!
- the_mitsuhiko 7mo agoArmin from Earendil here. I don't know about everything, but I find it disappointing that Tolkien has to "live" with being associated with the companies that are currently named after his works. I want to build a company that is based on better values.
