- pinkmuffinere 2y agoWow this sounds cool, would love to try it. Somewhat similar problem happened to me during flights — a couple times I’ve had a longish layover in a random city, and just wanted someone (anyone!) to hang out with. There are apps for this, but none worked for me.

- slwvx 2y agoCafe Gratitude used to seat strangers together in their Northern CA locations, which are now closed. I have no idea if they still do so in their other locations.

- f_allwein 2y agoRelax, it would be optional:-D
- nunez 2y agoThere are restaurants that do this. I don't patron them. I eat alone when I'm traveling and want to catch up on HN after a hard day at a customer site or if I had a hard day in general and want some me time (as cited by the article). Last thing I want to do is have the usual conversation with a stranger that I will never see again. Not every restaurant experience needs to be a social one.
