Isn't it just the next step towards the modern version of feudalism we've been building?
The elite used to enjoy nice housing near the office while service workers had to commute long distance to serve their fancy latte. Now the elite can just stay home and servive workers deliver their fancy latte.
This is the core reason why CEOs are trying to crack down so hard on WFH. It's not about productivity or culture, it's about privilege. They are the ones who should enjoy a flexible schedule, work from a coffee shop, go to the gym in between 2 calls (or even take a call while running on the treadmill). We can't have regular white collar peons enjoying the same privilege.
- amelius 3y agoWell, the peons can't go to the gym because the CEOs are there to check if they are working ...
- mettamage 3y agoCountries seem to react differently to this
- greenbit 3y agoYou're saying it's a dominance thing?
- orwin 3y agoI do not know if it's what OP meant, but I am increasingly certain that a lot of things modern society should seek to eliminate, including sexual agression, are mostly domination/power trips. It's really visible in highly hierarchical domains like the film industry.
