Ah yes the Rand corporation. It’s interesting, they seem to be aware of the growing fact of imperial overstretch, but cutting back our commitments and military spending are never even considered. Preserving the power of the empire is seen as an end unto itself- a goal, not a tool to do something positive for the citizens- and therefore is beyond question.

- RetroTechie 3y agoThose not involving the defense of US soil? US armed forces is moooorrre than equipped for defending its home soil. What's beyond that, aka defense of US "interests", can often be read as "interfering in other countries' affairs", where in 99% of cases it has no business doing so.
- nradov 3y agoSo you would be fine with letting China seize control of the Western Pacific Ocean and strangling our trade routes? How do you think that would work out for us in 30 years?
