- willis936 4y agoNo. I know there are plenty of things in the "could be substantiated" camp. I very intentionally am not interested in discussing those. Your claim is that we have no way of discerning between "impossible" and "possible" conspiracy theories, which is wrong.
- timr 4y agoThat's a convenient rationalization, but I chose an example that was being dismissed as conspiracy within the current year. I literally have no opinion on the matter (see how that works?), but I know that it was a conspiracy, and now is an open debate.
- willis936 4y agoAnd it qualifies as a "could be substantiated". See? We can tell which conspiracy theories could be true and which couldn't.
- Dylan16807 4y agoIt was a debate from day one. I don't know what you mean.

- TylerE 4y agoDismissals don’t have to be in good faith either. I’m sure somewhere there is some arguing for hours that there is a vast conspiracy to insist the sky is blue, when it’s actually red.
- slt2021 4y agowhoever did this, I want to say big Thank you to that person/organisation.
- bombolo 4y agoThe USA? I trust that all we hear about Russia and Ukraine at the moment is nothing but propaganda.
- mistermann 4y agoI happen to have a keen interest in how different people experience ideas like conspiracy theories and the unknown in general, so I am always on the lookout for it in discussions online or in meetups - it is uncanny how often the Earth being around is offered up when someone is challenged about the unknown, including people who have substantial backgrounds in science or philosophy. Very LLM-like.
