Substack competitor acquired by twitter
- coldpie 4y agoWhat is Substack?
- jillesvangurp 4y agoIt's a blogging platform. A bit like medium.
- bombcar 4y agoWhat is Medium?
- dylan604 4y agoNot big and not small...medium.
- adventured 4y agoA blogging platform a bit like Geocities.
- spillguard 4y agoWhat is Geocities?
- coldpie 4y agoNow you've gone too far. Geocities is the only one of these I've actually heard of!

- Ekaros 4y agoYour own personal kinda NNTP posting place?
- quadrifoliate 4y agoNNTP? Can you explain that in terms of TikTok please?
- MonkeyClub 4y agoSure, it's unlike TikTok.
- throwaway14356 4y agohow is it your own?
- Ekaros 4y agoOther people are not allowed to post under you. You can't have some troll proving you wrong in a reply and have it posted in same thread.
- throwaway14356 4y agoif they can just rip it away from under your but it isn't yours. ergo: wrong proven

- amelius 4y agoYouTube, but for written text instead of video.
- psnehanshu 4y agoWhat is YouTube?
- Ekaros 4y agoBlogging platform aimed for journalists. And kind. Offering paid subscription. Partly marketed as direct to customer columnist platform.
- autokad 4y agoI'm being honest here, I never heard of substack either.
- Centigonal 4y agoIt's interesting how people's experiences differ - it feels to me like every third link on HN's front page is from Substack. Have you ever read an article where you scroll down and it fades in a dialog asking you to subscribe to their newsletter, and then you have to click "Let me read it first" to keep going? The platform that site is running on is Substack.
- albert_e 4y agoI thought that experience was a "medium" trademark :) But yes now that you described it, I remember that experience but didn't associate with the brandname "substack"
- justsomehnguy 4y agoThat's why I force my browser to show the full URL, without fancy "we know what is better for you" things.
- autokad 4y agoI'm sure I seen it, just don't recall. usually if I click a link and its a blog, I'm gone. If its a block with something I have to click to read further, I definitely just close it. I just don't like the blogging experience, I never did. I'd much rather consume my information in video content. I feel like the ways they can convey the information is much more dynamic, and its painfully obvious if they are just trying to fluff the video for time. With some blogs, they add so much fluff writing and reading isn't something I particularly enjoy. The video experience is getting worse, with in video sponsors. personally, content creators should be forced to tag the video sections that are for sponsorship and the player should be able to automatically skip them.
