Carl Icahn: market will certainly hit the wall because of money printing
- renewedrebecca 5y agoHaven't they been saying this since the 70s?
- imtringued 5y agoThe Japanese are still trying to inflate their economy and completely failed. They have deflation right now.
- zarzavat 5y agoSurely money printing increases the value of equities, and decreases the value of the dollar. The markets will do just fine. It's the common person who will suffer from decreased purchasing power. Of course, very high levels of inflation are damaging to an economy but there's zero indication of anything like that.
- landemva 5y agoWhile the price may increase, how does rampant money printing increase the value of a share of stock?
- zarzavat 5y agoYou are correct, I meant the price denominated in US dollars. Whether or not the value would rise or fall relative to X other asset is down to the market conditions in X.
- voakbasda 5y agoNot sure how anyone thinks inflation is not seeing a huge increase. I have been looking at building a garage and prices have jumped over 25% in the last couple of years. Same jump with heavy equipment like bulldozers. Everywhere I look, prices are up at least 20% across the board from two years ago.

- fithisux 5y ago"activist investor" is this a kind of humor I don't get?
- smabie 5y agoAn activist investor tries to affect change in the company they own shares in; Icahn is particularly famous (notorious?) for this. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Activist_shareholder https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Activist_shareholder https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporate_raid https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporate_raid
