fpcupdeluxe is a lot more reliable than installing the releases. When arm64 came out, I couldn't even get an arm64 build for my Mac, but fpcupdeluxe just handled it.

Pascal originally required you to specify the length of the string before you did anything with it. This is a totally good idea, but was considered to be too much of a pain to use at the time.

Both. Mainframes though are incredibly good for both I/O and uptime. Yeah, Linux/Unix are way better on both than they used to be, but on a mainframe, it's just a totally different level.

Sure, but that is different than being a translation. A "translation" of the Bible is always considered moving from the original text, not from the likely language of the speaker.

I see this idea a lot, but I don't really buy it. I've coded in 6502 assembly for years, and the zero page is not register-like at all. Best thing you can say about zero page is that it only requires one read cycle to fetch a val
