What does BoA stand to gain from increased inflation expectations?
- Scoundreller 5y agoExactly. Bank economists needs to be treated like HR: branches of the business that exist to support and protect the business.

- nabla9 5y agoNothing. He want's to talk inflation down by taking scary talk. High core PCE hurts investors and helps those who are in debt.
- alisonkisk 5y ago"investors" includes wage earners investing their labor for wages, and also welfare recipients, who lack negotiating power to get cost of living increases. Debtors are either homeowners or other leverages investors who are more investors than debtors, or poor folks who are going to declare bankruptcy before paying back loans. Inflation doesn't help most people. It's a wrench in the works.
- imtringued 5y agoInflation doesn't help most people... until we reach full employment and it helps literally everyone.
- nabla9 5y ago> Inflation doesn't help most people. Moderate inflation helps the economy and the people after delay. Welfare benefits have cost-of-living adjustments. Inflation does not affect normal investments. The real return reflects profits, not inflation. Institutional investors use debt as a hedge.
- hogFeast 5y agoNothing. If the BoA analyst makes lots of bad calls, he loses his job and has to find something else to do. This is not related to anything else that BoA does.
