Game of drones: Chinese giant DJI hit by U.S. tensions, staff defections
- Apocryphon 6y agoOne wonders what the work culture was like in the U.S.
- winrid 6y agoNot super related, but I know someone that interviewed with them, and they did their coding interviews using Google Docs...
- neatze 6y agoIs there an explanation why ?
- yorwba 6y agoSome Chinese companies use it as a filter for culture fit. Mainlanders who can't access Google Docs are either unable or unwilling to circumvent the Great Firewall, and they want to hire neither of those groups.

- nym3r0s 6y agoThis was my exact experience when interviewing for Google 5 years ago. Extremely irritating to write (and see) code like that.
- supergirl 6y agoassuming it was remote, that's not so bad. if it was in office then they might have used a white board. is that also bad? most of the work of a soft eng is not simply writing code and compiling. most of the time is actually spent discussing
- winrid 6y agoYes but sometimes you do have to code, and when you do code you use certain tools. That's why there are dozens of companies that help solve this problem for technical screens.
- ilaksh 6y agoWhat's the plan for reducing tensions or resolving the conflict between the United States and China? I feel like there are deep cultural and political differences. Things seem to be ramping up. Is the "plan" just to keep going on that trajectory for X more years until China has some viable military or bioweapon or something and then just have millions of caucasians trying to kill millions of asians and millions of asians trying to kill millions of caucasians? Because how do you know we are not headed to that? Look at what the proxy war between powers has done to Syria. I just don't think that people should keep fighting like ant colonies. We are not ants. We are better than ants. Aren't we?
- throwaway4good 6y agoI think right now, the plan is to escalate tensions, not reduce them.
- ashneo76 6y agoDo you think these China will be changing it's stance on authoritarianism, nepali border, Indian conflict, srilankan and african construction in order to subvert govt, Chinese student going pro china online, in australia, Canada, US etc trying to silence any and all Chinese criticism, calling the genocide of Uighur muslims as reeducation, denying tiananmen square, denying Taiwan as an independent country, attacking island in the south china sea, taking over Hong Kong and so much more, stopping any time soon? To begin with, to govts, we are ants. China is coming for whatever they think is right for them. I don't know any other solution that can work
- ilaksh 6y agoOh so you think the best solution is to have millions of people fighting and killing each other? It does seem that mass killing and destruction is the primary way that humans settle serious political disputes. Of course, for every war, and every combatant, in every faction, they had many reasons, such as you list, for why their participation in the killing and destruction was the moral thing to do. To me this proves that unaugmented humans are not fit to control the earth. We can only hope that transhuman and posthuman societies may some day actually be civilized.
