I didn't realise scp was that old.
- dredmorbius 6y agoSSH (and scp) are not. The protocol scp is based on, in command and file semantics, rcp, is. It's part of the Berkeley r-command suite, released in 1982. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berkeley_r-commands https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berkeley_r-commands
- ur-whale 6y agoThey might be talking about the protocol used by scp which is rcp and is indeed that old.
- josefx 6y agoThe author is even older, making his opinion a 1970s legacy. Can't wait until we get rid of wheels, roads or even sliced bread. All that legacy stuff is only holding us back.
- mattmanser 6y agoWhat's with the casual ageism? Are you superior because you have less knowledge and experience than the author?
- marcosdumay 6y agoYou may have missed a couple of jokes.
- josefx 6y agoIt is a sarcastic reference to the authors closing sentence. Hence my second sentence pointing out other old things to get rid of.
- mattmanser 6y agoAh, ok, sorry!
