Too bad. I really enjoyed using it while it was up. The code is open source, and they have docs on how to set it up for self hosting. I wonder if there is a chance some active forks might live on?

- gergely 6y agoTresorit has the same functionality: https://send.tresorit.com/ https://send.tresorit.com/
- gruez 6y agoRequires your email
- unicornporn 6y agoJust fill that field with crap. Not required to get the files sent.
- feralimal 6y agoresilio too
- sdan 6y agoTried self hosting the day it came out. Had no luck, but i'm sure its possible given the docs.
- mkayokay 6y agoThere is also a Dockerfile - might make ad-hoc deployment easier, but have not tested it: https://github.com/mozilla/send/blob/master/Dockerfile https://github.com/mozilla/send/blob/master/Dockerfile
- johnchristopher 6y agoI used it for a while but I found the docker setup strangely over-complicated in comparison to next/owncloud. Also, the basic options to set up file link TTL and max number of downloads... If I remember correctly, it's one or the other. Not enough tweaking options for something with so much moving parts.

- 40four 6y agoGood work :)
- aj3 6y agoWe still have Magic Wormhole though and it's awesome! (at least for techies) https://magic-wormhole.readthedocs.io/en/latest/welcome.html https://magic-wormhole.readthedocs.io/en/latest/welcome.html
- gnyman 6y agoYeah for streaming transfers wormhole is great. Also check out the the go port https://github.com/psanford/wormhole-william https://github.com/psanford/wormhole-william (compatible with the original) and https://webwormhole.io/ https://webwormhole.io/ (not compatible I think)
- StavrosK 6y agoMagic Wormhole is awesome. I've recently come across croc and like that too: https://github.com/schollz/croc/ https://github.com/schollz/croc/
- tialaramex 6y agoHmmm. Several of the listed feature seem like valuable improvements over Magic Wormhole. That leads me to think that maybe several people should go to the bother of an IETF working group so everybody's platform gets at least a baseline interoperable thing in this class (PAKE driven single file transfer) like with TLS or SecSH, rather than all having their own preferred option that's incompatible.
- 0x6c6f6c 6y agoSeems like the relay server does do file transfer?? Seems like it kills the purpose of it for me, or at least is a major negative compared to say webwormhole
- unicornporn 6y ago"We" as in "the people who knows how to use the command line". Unfortunately very few of the people I send files to knows that. There's https://webwormhole.io/ https://webwormhole.io/ and https://file.pizza/ https://file.pizza/ , but can I know what they really do behind the scenes? Native open-source software for this would be a dream come true. It's 2020 and I still wrestle with sending files between devices. And no, don't take this as a wish for creating just another service. :)
