Did you ever get it done? There are some animated/interactive Escher pieces on http://wonderfl.net/tag/escher , but no Metamorphosis - it looks difficult to animate...

Tamarin ain't bad, but for me the main advantage of Flash right now is the relatively fast, browser-independent and (unfortunately) closed-source rendering engine.

How so? Afaict it just produces a url and hands it off to a browser of your choice. For example, the piratebay example which Bjoern posted (which requires a separate 'dlynx' script, btw): surfraw -browser="dlynx" piratebay 2012 | whatever..
